RETELL Initiative: Rethinking Equity and Teaching for English Language Learners

Changes To Licensure:
SEI Endorsement required for all content area/classroom teachers who have one ELL in their class- July 2014
PDP's Required for Re-licensure:
150 Professional Development Points (PDPs) needed to renew an educator license:15 PDPs related to ESL/SEI15 PDPs related to instruction of students with disabilities90 PDPS in content or content-based pedagogy30 PDPs in an elective


The administrators’ course will be composed of five three-hour sessions. (OFFERED ON ISLAND Fall 2015, Registration opens August 3, 2015)
The full-length course currently consists of eleven face-to-face sessions and five online sessions, which must be held sequentially. (OFFERED ON ISLAND SY 2015-2016,Registration opens August 3, 2015)
The longer Bridge course, for educators who completed any two of Category Trainings 1, 2 and 4, will be 24 hours in length, broken into ten sessions; sessions 1, 2, 4 and 8 will each be three hours in length; the remaining sessions will each be two hours long. (OFFERED ON ISLAND Fall 2015- Registration opens August 3, 2015)
The shorter Bridge course, for educators who completed Category Trainings 1, 2 and 4 will be a total of15 hours, broken into five face-to-face sessions of three hours each. (OFFERED ON ISLAND Spring 2015,
